June 13

Tonight we are just north of Wolverton. We paddled 34 mi today to get to a non-existent campsite. It must be under water. Instead we are in a cow pasture with an electric fence and flotsam and jetsam everywhere. Again we find ourselves squatters. It rained last night, but we had very good weather today. We stopped at Fort Abercrombie and had a little tour. I had been there in about 1963. Then we walked into town to have a meal at the restaurant, but they weren’t open for another hour. The lady at the bar said, “Oh, you are the ladies from the river!” She had seen an article in the Fargo Forum last weekend.
