Mississippi Misadventures: Thirteen Trips of a Lifetime

Proud Mary by Tina Turner

I self-published this book in 2018. It chronicles a 13-year voyage down the Mississippi River, from the headwaters at Itasca State Park in Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico. My friends and I paddled for roughly one week every year, beginning in 2004. We started the next year right where we ended the year before, and thus segmented our way to the Gulf. The book tells about run-ins with alligators, runaway barges, flooding, storms, and the many people we met. It also tells the story of 3 college friends who committed to a long-term goal and survived!
