Heart of Africa

Africa is one of our seven continents, but it’s really just a big big island, and I am going there! I am taking my grandson Johan, age 8, to meet his other grandparents, Lydia and Sophonie, in mid- February. They live in the tiny country of Burundi, which borders on Rwanda, Tanzania, and the Congo. It also sports a shore on Lake Tanganyika. Due to visa restrictions, his grandparents are unable to visit us, and his father is unable to return to his native country. So I am the logical person to take Johan to experience the other half of his heritage. We will be gone from home for two weeks, but four of those days will be spent traveling, including a 12-hour layover in Nairobi, Kenya. We are both excited to be guests in this country and to dwell in the natural beauty, see some wildlife, and of course meet family. I hope to post some photos from there, maybe even depicting LIVE monkeys!

Johan
