We are almost to Lake Winnipeg. The temperature has dropped, the wind has picked up, and the skies are very smokey. We continue to make good progress in the mornings, but in the afternoons wind and fatigue slow us down. Many people give us advice about paddling on like Winnipeg. Everyone has a warning of some kind. We are fearless, though. Everyone has been very kind to us.

We have passed numerous historic Catholic churches built right along the river. It is a very French area. Today we went through the only lock in Manitoba. It is clear sailing from now to the lake.

  1. It was fun to see you (twice!) in Winnipeg. Have you been singing “Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud” as you paddle along? I anxiously await each new post. Best greetings to all of you and stay safe!
