I just finished packing and I have way too much stuff. How can one accurately estimate how much food one will eat in a month? It’s all a guessing game. I will meet up with the Debs on Wednesday, and I’m sure they will have way too much stuff also. The problem is that we have to all fit in the canoe with all our gear. In the last post I showed a picture of our bear-proof food box, but now that plan has gone out the window because there is no room for it in the canoe. I am attaching a photo of the spray skirt I made for our canoe. What is a spray skirt? It is a waterproof cover of sorts to keep big waves out of the boat. It is not very photogenic but I think it will serve its purpose.
We have an internet address where you can go to view our progress. This address is managed by Garmin, the maker of our satellite safety device. Hopefully you will be able to keep up with us as we travel. Actually, the hope is that we will be able to keep up with you. Please feel free to share the link with your friends!

Exciting times! I can’t wait to see you and to meet the Debs when you come through Winnipeg. Your package is here waiting for delivery. I think the best place for us to initially meet up is at The Forks (along the steps just into the place where the Assiniboine runs into the Red), before you travel up to Rex’s north Winnipeg setting and overnight. I hope we can communicate once you get on the way. Remember I’ll be off doing my Swedish heritage thing on June 9-11. I should be back in Winnipeg by late in the day of Sunday, the 11th.
